FIRM OVERVIEW

Kateera & Company Advocates traces it’s origin to the establishment. in 1903. of Uganda’s first practice, Hunter And Greig Advocates. Over the course of a century, the firm has admitted Barristers, Solicitors and Attorneys of international repute, praised for their expertise in transactional Advice and Dispute Resolution.
The Firm has drawn from institutional memory and broad expertise to provide an unparalleled service across a range of specialised practice areas.

OVERVIEW

1903: Hunter & Greig Advocates, established by Dr. Henry Hamilton Hunter (Barrister) and George Greig (Solicitor).
1953: Oliver Keeble and John Counihan, both admitted as partners
1967: Jonathan Kateera (passed on in 1995), a Barrister of the Supreme Court of England and Wales and a graduate of the University of Wales and Harvard Law School joins as a partner
1969: Christopher Kasibayo (passed on in 1986), a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales joins as a partner,
1971: Keeble and Counihan depart in the aftermath of political turnoil
1973: Hunter & Greig Advocates changes to Kateera & Kasibayo Advocates
1973: Gideon Akankwasa (passed on in 1984), an Advocate and graduate of the University of East Africa at Dar-Es-Salaam joins as a partner
1979: Mr. Yusufu Kagumire, a Barrister of the Supreme Court of England and Wakles joins as a partner
1982: Reverts to Hunter & Greig Advocates
1995: Changes name to Kateera & Kagumire Advocates
